Front Line

Overheard as two people patched the inner-tube of a bicycle tire: “I feel like I’m on the front line.” The speaker was aware it was a metaphor. A half-hour later a new National Geographic post was read. The metaphor shifted to the real front: “Nurse and photographer Rosem Morton documents life on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19.”

The real front is every health care facility. Humans play critical roles at the front. Example: CNN reported that the much needed “ventilators don't operate on their own.” Respiratory therapists, operate the complex machines. Example: Nurses play their roles on the front line. One of them, “Baltimore nurse Rosem Morton provides the details in her journal of eight days at the front.”
