Pope Francis spoke to the academy which trains priests for diplomatic service in the Roman Catholic Church. He recalled that John XXIII, when he worked in the diplomatic core, desired not to become “‘cumbersome and ridiculous.’” Francis offered him as a model to the diplomats-in-training.
