tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-258850122024-03-14T00:58:33.348-04:00To Find FruitSt. Ignatius of Loyola learned to find fruit, that is, the effect or consequence of action. More important than our actions is the action of God in, with and for humans. One grows to find fruit and to offer it the more one savors one's own life and all creation. I hope my posts help you feel that finding fruit is a profitable way of living.Paul Panaretos Jr.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09921218580453518983noreply@blogger.comBlogger2428125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25885012.post-43230167003790254972021-08-05T10:59:00.004-04:002021-08-05T10:59:51.383-04:00 In the Present Tense<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;"></div><span style="font-family: Avenir; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D3ZjznrYl1I/YQv7Z7CCtbI/AAAAAAAACZ0/HRWW9Sfqoy08ZJoB4fSeFpnCAEOZfCe4gCLcBGAsYHQ/s960/IMG_0139.jpeg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D3ZjznrYl1I/YQv7Z7CCtbI/AAAAAAAACZ0/HRWW9Sfqoy08ZJoB4fSeFpnCAEOZfCe4gCLcBGAsYHQ/w150-h200/IMG_0139.jpeg" width="150" /></a></div><span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"><span font-size:="" large="" style="color: red; float: left; font-size: 100px; line-height: 70px; padding-top: 2px;"><span face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">T</span></span>he Australian Jesuits recently published a 2018 poem of Caleb Ryan. No share in God’s healing life is given to keep. </span>What can we offer? <span>With his finger on the pulse of human living Pope Francis suggests kindness is the best daily gift we offer.<i> </i></span>In his recent encyclical Francis urges us to recover<span style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;"><i> </i></span>kindness.<span style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;"><i> </i></span><span>“Those who [cultivate kindness] become stars shining in the midst of darkness.” Christian kindness outshines good manners. It is a fruit of the Holy Spirit for us. Practicing kindness “involves ‘speaking words of comfort, strength, consolation and encouragement’ and not ‘words that demean, sadden, anger or show scorn.’” Indeed, acting kindly “opens new paths where hostility and conflict would burn all bridges.”</span></span><span style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">6</span></span></p><p style="font-family: Avenir; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: medium;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Avenir;"><div style="text-align: left;"><a href="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/76/Simple_Christmas_crib_in_a_hollow_tree_in_Frastanz-01ASD.jpg/2048px-Simple_Christmas_crib_in_a_hollow_tree_in_Frastanz-01ASD.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="450" data-original-width="800" height="183" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/76/Simple_Christmas_crib_in_a_hollow_tree_in_Frastanz-01ASD.jpg/2048px-Simple_Christmas_crib_in_a_hollow_tree_in_Frastanz-01ASD.jpg" width="339" /></a><span style="font-family: Avenir;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Avenir;">This year has been painfully dark:: dark for all. Patron saints come to mind, even though they have their days during the year. Exemplars and models of hope-filled living also glow in the solemnity. Yet no human knows</span><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></span><span style="font-size: large;"><i>all</i><span> the saints, a reason that the snippet from the Book of Revelation read at mass is appropriate: during his vision of the heavenly worship the Seer </span><i>heard the voice of many angels surrounding the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and their number was ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands</i><i> </i></span><span style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">[5.11]</span><span style="font-size: medium;">.</span></span></span></span></span></p>

<p style="font-family: Avenir; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;">The festival of the saints not only spurs on Christians to share in glory. Its more valuable function prepares Christians to endure the cost to reach it. Preparing Christians is a reason relics have been prominent from the beginning.
